i ordered the product new but when i received the item i had a bad feeling about this machine. the manual was crinkled up like someone had flipped through it. i took it out of the box and took the cover off and i found many finger smudges on it. it also had real strong plastic odor (don't know if it was plastic odor or chemical odor) that lasted very long time. i thought once i plug in and circulate the air...the smell will go away. it didn't. i don't know if they sent me the refurbished product or someone else's return. anyways, i didn't pay $300 for item that was used by someone else. during the use (only used for a day to see if it works) the odor didn't go away and at the end of one day use i didn't notice any dust collected. the low setting is very quiet but once u have the setting at medium or high, it gets very noisy. it seems to circulate air b/c i see cool air coming out of the vent but i have not seen the dust it collected over night. overall, i wasn't satisfied b/c i felt little cheated by the manufacturer by sending me the used item. i was very much looking forward to having this machine b/c i have allergies during the spring and fall with all the pollens in the air so when the machine came used and didn't see any dust, i had to return the item for a refund. was very disappointed.Oreck ProShield® Plus Air Purifier Overview
